Risk and Reward

To help consumers understand risk, all pension funds and investment funds in Ireland are graded for risk each quarter and are back tested for 5 years. So if a fund is a 1, it is low risk which is usually a cash fund. if it is a 4, it is usually a combination of Cash, Bonds and a small amount of shares. if it is a 7, it is 100% likely to be in shares which are higher risk.

We use the link below to assess someones attitude to risk, this should only be used as part of a bigger conversation around risk with one of our advisers as it is a guide only.

Click here to assess your attitude to risk, see below.

Financial Architects will help you take a view on the level of risk you may wish to consider, depending on your plan, ie long term growth or capital protection over any period.

It is great to see a pension rising in value, but how will you react if there is a fall in value?  Your attitude to losing money as well as making money is very important to both FInancial Architects and you.  There are a number of factors to consider, what is the clients objective? eg to pay for univeeristyt fees in 10 years time, or to fund for retirement in 20 years time. Can the person cope with large losses, have they the capacity to take risk with their pension or investment funds.
